Ferrotramviaria has played the role of project supervisor, following appointment by Regione Puglia, the completion of the railway link connecting the international airport "Karol Wojtyla" of Bari to the infrastructure of the Ferrovie Nord Barese, both in the direction of Bari both towards Bitonto. The subsidiary Ferrotramviaria Engineering oversaw the design phase of the design and direct the construction of the new 7 km of double-track railway, which began in May 2009. The project was funded through both national and European funds with an amount of € 71m. Since July 2013, the airport is easily accessible by train from Bari and from all cities served by Ferrotramviaria; when the works will be completed interoperability stations RFI Bari Centrale and Barletta Centrale thanks to "Big Project" funded by the European Community, the airport will become accessible from all cities of Puglia and surrounding regions, allowing the international airport development "Karol Wojtyla" of Bari as the aviation hub of reference of the whole south of Italy.
