The contract with "Consorzio Integra Società Cooperativa", registered office in Bologna, has been signed on 21st May 2020, and it includes the executive design and construction works for the underground line intervention in the urban center of Andria. This intervention is part of the larger "Grande Progetto" aimed at the railway adaptation of the metropolitan area of Northern area of Bari. The mentioned works provide the construction of a trench, next to the current railway land which is allowing the lowering of the rail level by about 7 meters compared to the current ground level. The construction of plates covering the trench, equipped with green areas and play areas, allows the urban reconnection of the city, making vehicular traffic more fluid in the sections where the elimination of road-rail interference is obtained by the suppression of 4 level crossings. In support of the intervention there is the construction of a bicycle path and two bikes' station near by the Andria Central station and the former tollbooth n.20 of the Bari - Barletta railway line in Via Barletta. In addition to the renovation of the Andria Central station and the already built "Andria Sud" station, the city of Andria will be provided with the new "Andria Nord" underground stop. The completion of the works, which are expected to begin in October 2020, is scheduled for mid-2022.
