Any lost property found by the Corporate Staff in stations and stops is delivered to the Station Chief.
Any lost property found by the Corporate Staff on trains is delivered to the Station Chief at the arrival station.
Station Chief send these items to the Bari Central Station.
As far as the bus service is concerned, any property found by the Corporate Staff on buses and/or next to bus stops is delivered to the Bus Service Manager in Bitonto.
The Bari Central Station Chief and the Bus Service Manager are responsible for registering and filing the items found and storing them in a suitable place inside the warehouse where they are kept for 1 month. These items can be claimed and collected by their owners:
If the ownership of the lost item is certain (because an ID card or another paper is present), and the owner can be contacted, the Bari Central Station Chief or the Bus Service Manager will give him/her any necessary information concerning the retrieval. Upon collection, he/she will sign the lost and found register, after verification of his/her identity (by means of any ID document). In any other case, after filling a lost property enquiry, the officer will write down the personal details of the claimant contained in his/her ID document, and ask for a detailed description of the item claimed. If the description matches the item claimed, the claimant will be allowed to collect his/her belonging after having signed the lost and found register. After one month, in compliance with the standard included in the Civil Code, the Bari Central Station Chief and the Bus Service Manager will send the unclaimed items to the Lost Property Offices in the Municipalities of Bari and Bitonto, respectively.
