On the connection between the "Karol Wojtyla" International Airport and the city centre, the new "Pay and Go" service allows fast access to trains by simply bringing payment cards close to the new terminals at Bari and Airport stations.
The new ‘contactless’ payment service "Pay and Go" allows you to pay for your ticket digitally and access trains by simply bringing your payment card close to one of the dedicated turnstiles or totems at Bari and Airport stations, and in case of control, to the terminals used by the checking staff.
You can use any type of contactless card, also via card apps on smartphones or smartwatches.
You can pay for trips between Bari Centrale station and the Airport stop and vice versa, while at other stations this service is currently unavailable.
At Bari Centrale, for travellers heading towards the Airport, two "mini totems" are installed at the station: one adjacent to the InfoPoint, the other at the entrance to the platform.
The purpose of these terminals is to ascertain the traveller’s point of departure and verify that the card is valid and accepted by the interbank system.
The traveller intending to use the new service is required to register by scanning the card with the card reader; the outcome of the verification process is indicated with an authorized or unauthorized check-in screen.
Repeated presentation of the card at both departure and arrival does not lead to double charging but is used to verify the journey taken, for on-board control, and for opening the exit turnstile.
For travellers coming from Bari Centrale and exiting at the Airport turnstiles, the screens will show "check-out" to emphasize the completion of the service procedure and the opening of the exit turnstile from the railway system.
Please note: "Travellers can use each payment card for just one trip. It means they cannot use the same card to pay for more than one person at a time. So, even if the card is scanned multiple times, no extra charge will be incurred.”
At the Airport, 3 gates equipped with a contactless bank card reader are available for the new service, for departures to Bari and are signed appropriately.
To open the gate, simply scan the credit card with the reader or via the card smartphone app. The terminal reads the card and verifies its validity via card banking system. The turnstile will only open if the card is authenticated, functional, and not blocked. The turnstile will remain closed otherwise.
The turnstile console has a button for requesting assistance in case of difficulty, with a telephone connection to the company's customer assistance service.
Please note: "Travellers can use each payment card for just one trip. It means they cannot use the same card to pay for more than one person at a time. So, even if the card is scanned multiple times, no extra charge will be incurred”.
If travellers use the 'Pay and Go' service to buy the tickets and needs to show proof of purchase onboard the train, show operational staff the last four numbers of the payment card used.
The cost of the ticket is €5.30 and it has daily validity.

Additionally, payment works with Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, and other banking services on phones, watches, or other devices.
Yes, the pre-authorization amount on the respective payment circuits is as follows:

No, no additional cost is applied to the fare of the purchased travel ticket.
Ferrotramviaria does not store any data of the card and its holder. The handhelds of the verifiers do not show data but only the time and station where the payment was made.
The turnstile POS are certified to the security standards required for contactless payments.
From your bank account while in the future you will also be able to register and access your reserved area to check the detail of trips made and the related charges.
The accounting on the payment card occurs within 48 hours of purchase.
This service allows the management of fast and secure transactions for the payment of the ticket at the time of using the transport system, without the worry of queues and advance purchase, paying only at access to the platform for the departing train. Indeed, in full compliance with the highest standards of security and privacy, it offers a unique payment experience to all users of the service who will therefore no longer have to worry about finding the point of sale for the purchase of the travel ticket, choosing its type, and validating it before accessing the trains.
For purchases made using the contactless payment service "Pay and Go,” invoices can be requested by sending an email to gscarini@ferrovienordbarese.it, specifying the tax credentials of the buyer, the departure station, the date, the time, and the last 4 digits of the card used for the transaction.
